Well-Being In Times Of Crisis

Sunny afternoon greetings,

I very much hope that you and your family are keeping well.

Whist we stay at home things around us are changing every day. Nature is beautiful at the moment and I read that in some places the air quality has improved by as much as 50%! Wild animals enjoying the clear skies and seas, the seal-puppies are very lucky this year to escape the culling.

In our private lives we may be able to complete some of the things, big or small, which had been on our minds for some time. My sister just sent me a photo of a dress she made for her daughter. She had started making it for herself 30 years ago!

All my thoughts are with everyone that is suffering due to our current situation.

A global crisis like this, especially whilst being in lockdown, gives us all a chance to re-evaluate our lives. Perhaps we have become more conscious of all the good that is surrounding us, we may also be grateful for the smaller things we just did not notice when we were busy. We stay in touch with our family and friends and appreciate every compassionate gesture, word and deed that comes our way. To my mind these are the virtuous fundamental qualities of living together on this ONE planet and this crisis really shows how interconnected we truly all are.

I believe it has become very clear to us all that many of the priorities we did have in the past, were not serving us nor the planet anymore. I believe that this crisis is inviting us to look again at what it means to be successful and happy. Sometimes it only takes a slightly different vantage point to find answers. So many people enjoy walking or cycling these days in wonderful nature and in the sunshine. These simple activities, to my mind, could be used to practice the slightly different vantage point I was mentioning earlier. Instead of just heading out for a walk, we could simply think of a person who is unable to do this for different reasons and then easily dedicate our walk (in our mind) to them. We still get to do the walk (and reap all the benefits), but the thought would be a compassionate extension (an act of love and kindness) away from ourselves to someone who may so benefit from it. Or if we like cooking, creating art, doing yoga, reading a book, saying a prayer, resting or other things, we could just quietly dedicate our activity to either a particular person, a group, animals, nature etc. so our horizon naturally widens, we create a thriving network and if everyone thinks of someone no one is forgotten.

Perhaps you may wish to join me to experiment with this idea for a little while and see what happens in our own life?

Tomorrow morning, I shall make a start by dedicating my yoga shapes to my 91-year-old mum.

I would love to hear from you.

Please also do get in touch should you wish to book a consultation for some Bach flower remedies or an EFT tapping session. I am open to any other form of work with the aim to help you integrate your experiences in a beneficial way. We can arrange for a telephone talk, Skype or Zoom.

Wishing you blessings for good health and much strength,

Agnes
